Other Road Safety Services

We provide a range of other services and activities to enhance road safety in County Durham.

• National Driver Improvement Scheme (NDIS) - NDIS is a scheme which provides re-training for drivers who have been involved in a 'driving without due care and attention' incident. It is an alternative to appearing in court and facing possible prosecution.
• Speed Awareness courses for drivers who have been caught speeding in 30mph areas, as an alternative to prosecution.
• Post test training for new motorcycle riders and riders returning to motorcycles after a long period.
• Young driver post test training courses
• Safer Driving with AGE (SAGE). A driving assessment for elderly drivers who are concerned about their continued ability to drive safely. Drivers can be referred by their GP..
• Training for Walking Bus Scheme volunteers.
