'County Durham Youth Engagement Service prevents offending by helping young people achieve their full potential as active members of their community'.

All children in County Durham are our children, our responsibility, our success, our failure ..our future! Good parents nurture, support, and encourage children to be the 'best they can be' while preparing them to face the challenges associated with growing up. Sometimes it is difficult for us to remember that children are children - neither devils nor angels - but increasingly we seem to be living in a society which fears our own!

County Durham Youth Engagement Service is a partnership between Durham County Council (Children and Young People's Services), Durham Constabulary, County Durham and Tees Valley Strategic Health Authority and the National Probation Service, County Durham. These partners provide staff and resources who are managed by the Youth Engagement Service and together we work on a day to day basis to prevent children and young people under the age of 19 from offending.
