DLI - Discover, Learn, Imagine

DLI Museum & Art Gallery

Set in Parkland on the northern edge of Durham City, the dli is run by the Culture & Leisure Service of Durham County Council and is a popular meeting place, all year round, for families, tourists, general visitors, schools and special interest groups.

Occupying the entire top floor of a purpose-built modern building that it shares with the regimental collections of the Durham Light Infantry, the Durham Art Gallery offers a continually changing programme of exhibitions related to all aspects of the arts.

In recent years there have been exhibitions, not only of painting and sculpture, but also ceramics, glassware, textiles, design, illustration film and photography. These include major touring exhibitions from the Arts Council, national galleries, regional centres and touring organisations.

A separate Print Room space is a popular venue for solo exhibitions by many of our best locally-based artists and photographers.

The displays are complimented by a related ongoing programme of events and activities: workshops for adults and children, talks and demonstrations, with recitals and outdoor brass band concerts during the summer months.

Please ring 0191 3842214 for a free quarterly guide of exhibitions and events.
