County Durham Registered Trader Scheme
The County Durham Registered Trader Scheme has been introduced to help people choose reputable trades people to carry out repairs or other services to their home. The scheme provides a list of businesses that are committed to fair and honest trade and are willing to abide by procedures to help sort out any problems should they arise.
We hope to encourage and promote fair-trading in home repair businesses across County Durham. This will be promoted and accessible via a wide variety of partners throughout the county as well as the website. Applicants will go through a series of background checks and vetting procedures. These include:
- Criminal Record Bureau Check
- County Court Judgement Check
- Companies House Check
- Trading Standards Database Check
- Verification of any claims of being a member of a Trade Associations
- Ensuring a Complaint Procedure is in place should any problems occur
The scheme is being administered by Durham County Council’s Trading Standards Service, and supported by the Community Safety Partnerships across the County.
