Easington District Carers Support
Support is available for youNo matter what your problem, Easington District Carers Support will try to help you. They are there if you feel like a one to one chat with one of the support workers, all strictly in confidence, or if you want to meet up with others in a similar situation to yourself at one of the carer groups held throughout the district.
The groups are held between 10-12noon. They are drop in sessions so if you can only come along at 11.30am, that’s fine. If you are a bit worried about coming along to a group on your own, you are more than welcome to bring a friend.
Home visits aren’t a problem if you feel this would be more convenient. They can also give support over the telephone and can call you back. Any support can be arranged around your individual circumstances.

Young Disabled Person’s Forum
This forum has been set up by Development Workers from Disability Outlook Forum for young disabled people aged 14 to 30 years in and around Durham. The idea is to get a group of young people with disabilities together to form a committee. This group will then be trained to go out and discover the issues faced every day by young people with disabilities and how these could be changed to make life easier. It might be better education, more easy access to public transport, more communicator support in college or something completely different. Whatever the issues are the Young Disabled Person’s Forum will do anything in their power to change things for the better for all people with disabilities in Durham. The forum is about having fun too and members meet up for social evenings etc planned and organised by themselves. A conference was held on June 29th to launch the Forum but new members and/or committee members would be very welcome. Please contact Lyndsay or Joy at:
