Corporate Communications and Media Relations

The team is responsible for communicating with a wide range of audiences across County Durham and beyond.

The Media Relations team is responsible for ensuring that the County Council receives fair and comprehensive media coverage and that its policies and achievements receive adequate publicity.

We provide a round-the-clock media service, dealing with up to 50 media-related telephone calls each day. We originate more than 500 press releases each year, organise press conferences and press briefings, and take part in the preparatory work for civic functions.

Corporate Communications is responsible for producing the Council's Countywide newspaper, organising the corporate exhibition trailer, producing content for the website and publishing a range of corporate publications.

The team is also responsible for providing advice and information to members, officers and all departments of the county council on all matters relating to publicity and media relations.
