Books in Other Languages

Culture and Leisure subscribes to a book loan scheme that allows us to borrow books in a range of languages from one of our book suppliers.

Requests for books in other languages can be made at any of our service points. One of the following categories should be specified when placing the request:

• General adult
• Men's interest
• Women's interest
• Junior

If there is a preference for original language titles, rather than translations from English, this needs to be stated when the request is made.

Once the request has been placed, the collection of titles selected by our Suppliers to satisfy the order, will be sent to the requesting library for collection. A single reservation charge will be made for such a request.

The usual book loan period will apply.

Although this particular scheme does not allow for specific titles to be ordered, requests for individual titles in other languages can still be made. Where we are able to locate a lending copy of a requested title, the normal reservation charge will apply for each book supplied.

Language Courses

We stock a number of Language courses that may be reserved at any of our libraries. These may be borrowed for either a 3 week or a 3 month loan period, depending on the type of course. The normal reservation charge applies to the 3 week course but the 3 month courses are subject to a higher charge. Please check with your library for further details.
