Coal Mining Oral History Recordings
The Coal Mining Oral History Co-ordinator has recorded interviews from all over the county with miners and their families.
A total of 35 interviews have been recorded and transcribed. Master copies and transcripts of the recordings will be held in the County Record Office and eventually added to the Durham County Council website so that they can be accessed both locally and globally.
These recordings will help future generations to learn about disappearing working practices and outmoded technology, as well as recording for posterity the discrete dialects and terminology used in mining communities.
