M8's

Welcome to M8's group, established especially for foster carers own children to meet other children and young people whose parents are also foster carers. The M8 group meets every school holidays for children and young people aged 8-18 years and aims to provide a supportive group environment enjoying various activities. We hope that you will make friends, meet the fostering officers, share experiences about what it is like to foster and above all have fun!

Forthcoming Events

The M8's group have arranged forthcoming events for you to take part in, you will receive an invite in the post with reference to the events, if you have not received an invite, please contact the fostering group staff.

During the last two years the M8’s group have enjoyed trips to Diggerland, Forbidden Corner, bowling, go-carting, pizza and plans night, art days etc. Everyone has really enjoyed these days out.

Training Opportunities

In April the fostering team are going to be delivering some preparation training to the birth children of people who are being assessed to the foster carers. This is something we haven’t offered before and we hope it will be useful in explaining what fostering is about and looking at any concerns young people may have.

We would like it if some young people who are already foster would come along to this training and meet the young people and maybe share their views of what it is like to foster. If you would be interested in taking part please e-mail Camilla or Maxine. You will be rewarded for your time.

Fostering Group Staff

Here are some photos of the fostering officers who you will meet during the M8’s group meetings and who you can contact if you have any questions, comments etc. You can either phone us directly, or email us at m8@durham.gov.uk.

Camilla is a fostering officer on the teenage team. Please contact Camilla with ideas for activities, newsletter, any questions etc on 0191 3706133.
