Residential Care for Children and Young People
There are a number of different types of children’s homes.
Each children's home has a particular purpose and function according to the needs of the children who live there. We have several homes that can cater for up to 6 children. In addition, there are centres offering respite care to families of children and young people with disabilities.

If Social Care and Health makes arrangements for your child to live away from home, you may be required to make a weekly contribution towards the cost of their care. The amount you pay will depend upon the age of your child and how much you can afford to pay.
However, if you receive income support, family credit or unemployment benefit, there will be no charge.
