The Development of the Primary Strategy For Change

Durham Local Authority has completed an extensive consultation exercise on the development of our Primary Strategy for Change.

The Primary Strategy for Change is a document which outlines our ambitions for primary education over the next 15 years, including:

  • How primary schools can help us achieve them.
  • How we aim to improve primary provision across the Authority.
  • How we aim to aim to increase diversity of provision.

The second and final round of consultation on the Primary Strategy for Change has now closed. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking all of those who  responded to us in either of the two rounds. All suggestions have been considered and have been most helpful in refining our final submission.

It has been brought to our attention that in our description of the types of schools we neglected to describe fully the significant commitment that Voluntary Controlled and Voluntary Aided Schools have to their local community. This is a key feature of such schools in Durham and is illustrated by the strong partnership between the Local Authority and the Roman Catholic and Church of England Dioceses in the development of our strategy.
