Sedgefield Area

The Youth Service in the Sedgefield Area provides a wide range of opportunities for young people aged 13-19 years. Delivered, in partnership with local community centres, voluntary organisations, youth centres and community schools the service can provide challenging activities for the young people in the Sedgefield Area.

A total of 10 projects that operate in numerous settings across the area support the delivery of a range of programmes:

  • Traditional youth clubs
  • Specific project work, (music, arts, drama, dance, etc)
  • Activities just for girls
  • Activities just for boys
  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
  • Accredited work
  • Qualifications from level 1 - 3
  • International visits
  • Residentials
  • Opportunities to be involved in decision making
  • Opportunities for volunteering
  • Detached youth work
  • Youth bus
  • Youth work with young people with disabilities
  • Holiday programmes
  • Celebration events

Education in the Community is proud of its ability to respond to local need and is always keen to hear from young people and/or adults with ideas for their local community.

Whilst we have a team of well qualified and experienced full and part time youth workers we are keen to welcome new volunteers into the Service, providing initial induction, basic training and on-going support.

Leadership for the Service in the Sedgefield Area is provided by the Youth Work Team who can be contacted through the Area Education Office at Chilton Community College, Chilton, County Durham and can be contacted on 01388 720911.
