Durham Area
The Youth Service in the Durham area provides a wide range of opportunities for young people aged 13-19 years. Delivered, in partnership with local community centres, youth units, village halls and Community Schools, the service can provide challenging activities for the young people in the Durham City Area.
Education in the Community is proud of its ability to respond to local need and is always keen to hear from young people and/or adults with ideas for their local community.
A total of 14 projects support the delivery of a range of programmes:
- Traditional youth clubs
- Specific project work, (music, arts, drama, etc)
- Activities just for girls
- Activities just for boys
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
- Accredited work
- Qualifications from level 1 - 3
- International exchanges
- Residentials
- Opportunities to be involved in decision making
- Opportunities for volunteering
- Detached youth work
- Youth bus

Whilst we have a team of well qualified and experienced full and part time youth workers we are keen to welcome new volunteers into the service, providing initial induction, basic training and on-going support.
