About Customer Services
Customer Services has been created to ensure that the Council fully utilises and develops its ICT assets to achieve the Council’s corporate mission and aims. In doing so, the Council will focus on connecting with, supporting and enabling communities and businesses through ICT, and develop its own management practices, so that it becomes a centre of excellence for ICT.
Customer Services uses leading edge technology to develop innovative solutions in support of the Customer Services objectives. The Service comprises a number of highly skilled staff who provide a complete range of ICT services. We provide and support a county-wide ICT infrastructure comprising databases, servers and PCs as part of a communications network.
We develop and maintain both bespoke and third party applications across the various Council departments. In-house training facilities ensure that customers are fully trained in the use of these applications. The service has also established corporate expertise in Web development and Mapping applications.
In addition Customer Services provides a comprehensive range of Reprographic Services including graphic design, colour printing, reprographics and finishing for the County Council and other associated organisations.
As the Director of Customer Services Alan Hodgson is the Officer Champion and he works closely with the Member Champion, Councillor Michele Hodgson, to promote Transformational Government within Durham County Council.
