Music Support Service
The aim of the Music Service is to inspire young people in our communities to enjoy music throughout their lives. We will provide a wide range of high quality musical educational opportunites aiming for the highest standards.
The Service is managed by a Head of Service, assisted by a team of area managers. Some 60 teachers with individual instrumental and vocal specialisms teach more than 5000 pupils, individually or in small groups, on a weekly basis throughout the County, providing live musical experiences for all pupils in Primary and Special schools, and support in music curriculum matters to class teachers. In addition, a team of administrative assistants based in the Music Centre at Kingsway, Bishop Auckland, support the work of the Service in schools.
