Member Area Panels
The Council has a number of locally based member groups, called Member Area Panels. These Panels provide a link between local communities and the Council, enabling the Council to be more responsive to local needs and facilitate partnership working at the local level with other public and voluntary agencies. The Council has a seperate MAP for each district of County Durham, with the exception of Teesdale and Wear Valley which meet as a joint MAP.
The MAP's are not decision-making bodies. However, they are able to make recommendations regarding the expenditure of budgets delegated to Corporate Directors for area based initiatives.
