Chief Executive

Chief Executive's Office
The Chief Executive’s Office provides strategic leadership and corporate guidance to the Council in its delivery of services. The Office ensures efficiency and effectiveness in the Council's approach to service delivery, while maintaining an overview of 'policy-making' and focusing on the Council’s corporate management objectives.
Children and Young People's Services
Our Children and Young People's Services cover many elements of children's social care and health as well as education, Youth Engagement and Connexions.
Corporate Management Team
Each department is managed by a Corporate Directors, who supports councillors in their roles as executive decision makers.
Corporate Services
Our Corporate Services play a key role in the management and direction of the authority, providing advisory and monitoring functions across the full range of the County Council's activities.
County Treasurer
The services provided by the County Treasurer give financial support to the Council. As the steward of public money, the County Treasurer carries a prime responsibility to the general public to ensure the proper administration of the Council's financial affairs.
Customer Services
Customer Services has been created to ensure that the Council fully utilises and develops its ICT assets, focussing on connecting with, supporting and enabling communities and businesses through ICT, and develop its own management practices, so that it becomes a centre of excellence for ICT. It also includes our Access to Services section.
Environment
Our environment services include a wide range of work associated with highways, bridges, trading standards, scientific services, planning and the physical and natural environment of County Durham.
Service Direct
Service Direct is Durham County Council’s contracting arm, offering a diverse range of services, such as; building, catering, civil engineering, grounds maintenance, cleaning and fleet management, all of which are carried out by employees with specialised knowledge and skills to a internationally recognised quality standard.
