Children and Young People's Services

Children and Young People's Services (CYPS) was established in April 2006 by bringing together the former Education Service and those parts of the former Social Care and Health Service which provided services to children, young people and their families. The Service also incorporates the former separate Youth Engagement Service and Connexions County Durham.

The Service aims, in partnership with others to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families against the 5 Every Child Matters outcomes, ie:

  • Being healthy
  • Staying safe
  • Enjoy and achieve
  • Make a positive contribution
  • Achieve economic well being
