Councillors' Allowances

The council is required in accordance with the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 to publish the sum paid to each member in respect of Basic Allowance, Special Responsibility Allowance, Dependents' Carers' Allowance, Travelling and Subsistence Allowance and Co-optees' Allowance in the year to 31 March 2008. Under these regulations Councils are required to establish and maintain an independent remuneration panel to provide the local authority with advice on its scheme and the amounts to be paid. Local Authorities must have regard to this advice. Details of the Councillors' allowances for 2007/2008 are detailed in the following attachment.
