Crime and Disorder Funding and Initatives

Links to the main funding streams available to Partnerships are shown below:

Local Area Agreements

Local Area Agreements (LAA) are a new contract between central and local government to deliver the priorities of local people. The purpose of Local Area Agreements is to:
  • Develop and deliver a range of locally agreed outcomes.
  • Bring together and simplify funding streams.
  • Devolve decision making; reduce bureaucracy.
  • Join up public services.

Basic Command Unit Fund

The Basic Command Unit (BCU) Fund was introduced to:
  • Help the front line (police officers) to deliver crime and disorder reduction locally.
  • Promote partnership working.

The money can be spent on capital or revenue items. As the fund is primarily to help police play a full and active role in the delivery of CDRP strategies BCU commanders must agree their spending plans with the CDRPs.

Every Child Matters

The Children's Fund provides a responsive approach to developing services that address difficulties faced by children and families. It encourages voluntary organisations, community and faith groups to work in partnership with local statutory agencies, and children, young people and their families, to deliver high-quality preventative services to meet the needs of communities. Details can be found on the Every Child Matters website.
