Crime and Disorder Funding and Initatives
Links to the main funding streams available to Partnerships are shown below:
Local Area Agreements
Local Area Agreements (LAA) are a new contract between central and local government to deliver the priorities of local people. The purpose of Local Area Agreements is to:- Develop and deliver a range of locally agreed outcomes.
- Bring together and simplify funding streams.
- Devolve decision making; reduce bureaucracy.
- Join up public services.
Basic Command Unit Fund
The Basic Command Unit (BCU) Fund was introduced to:- Help the front line (police officers) to deliver crime and disorder reduction locally.
- Promote partnership working.
The money can be spent on capital or revenue items. As the fund is primarily to help police play a full and active role in the delivery of CDRP strategies BCU commanders must agree their spending plans with the CDRPs.
