Durham County Council Race Equality Scheme

We are committed to equality and diversity. We value all people who live, work or learn in County Durham. We value difference and individuality.

We produced a Race Equality Scheme for 2005 to 2008 which set out our committment to race equality, the improvements we have made and those still needed. We have now produced an update as part of our legal requirements which gives a brief summary of some of the work carried out, we have also produced a new impact assessment timetable.

Our race equality objectives and actions are included in the Corporate Equalities Plan, which also includes actions relating to other aspects of equality such as disability and gender .

As part of the work to create a new council for County Durham we are working closely with colleagues in the district and borough councils to develop joint action plans and policies, the Race Equality Scheme will be reviewed again as part of that work.

A copy of Race Equality Scheme and Action Plan are available below in pdf format for printing if required. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this information.
