Citizens' Panels
The County Durham Citizens' Panel is a representative group of local residents who are consulted on a wide range of local issues on a regular basis. Citizens panels have been established by the County Council and other public bodies to enable them to take on board local people’s views and opinions when developing policies and making decisions.
We first established the County Durham Citizens' Panel in December 1999. Since then we have consulted the Panel on a number of occasions:
- September 2005 - Priorities Review
- October 2003 - Countywide consultation
- July 2003 - INLOGOV
- Citizens' Panel Highways Survey 2003-04
- December 2002 - Highways survey
- September 2002 - Access to Services
- June 2002 - Improving the County Council's complaints system
- April 2002 - What the County Council should be doing and what people thought of our proposed strategic objectives for 2002/03.
- June 2001 - What people thought of the services we are reviewing in 2001/02.
- November 2000 - How satisfied people were with the Council's services.
- December 1999 - How we should fulfill our new statutory duty of 'Best Value'.
