Business Sites

The County Council works with its partners, including One NorthEast and the District Councils, to ensure that there is a complete portfolio of business sites and premises available in the County for new business start-ups, expanding local companies and inward investment projects.

The County Council has developed a range of industrial estates, business parks and business units at key locations. These amount to almost 550 hectares and 120 units and are home to over 15,000 jobs in such companies as Thorn Lighting, Electrolux, Black & Decker and Filtronic. As well as developing new estates and business units, the Council has an ongoing programme to improve and upgrade existing sites.
