Advice on training, learning and employment opportunities for people with a disability will come under one roof in County Durham next month. (November 12)
The free Disability Employment and Learning Opportunities event will be held at Collingwood College, Durham University, on Monday, November 12 and again at the Pioneering Care Centre, Newton Aycliffe, on Wednesday, November 21.
Running from 10.00am to 7.00pm at each venue, the drop in event is arranged by Durham County Council, all district councils in the county, the University of Durham, the county’s Fire and Rescue Service, Police and Police Authority.
Information from other agencies will also be available including JobCentre Plus, WorkAble Solutions and local colleges.
People attending will have the chance to speak to public sector employers and local education and learning providers as well as take part in workshops.
The workshops will be held in the morning and afternoon and Welfare Rights benefits surgeries on a one to one basis throughout the day.
Feedback from the workshops will be used by individual organisations for future work on their Disability Equality Duty.
Transport to the event can be provided but needs to be booked in advance.
To reserve a transport, Welfare Rights or workshop place, contact the equalities team, Durham County Council on 0191 3834207 or email equalities@durham.gov.uk.
