Published January 14, 2008
A drop-in session for men in Durham City could help transform their lives.
The event, at Ushaw Moor Sure Start Children’s Centre on Tuesday, January 22, is an opportunity to find out more about all aspects of health and wellbeing.
Running from 1.00pm to 6.00pm, it is open to men with children aged under five and is organised by Durham County Council’s Sure Start Children’s Centres at Brandon, Ushaw Moor and Laurel Avenue.
Health co-ordinator, Jan Cleaver said: “There will be two planned physical activities on circuit tasters at 3.00pm and Tai Chi at 4.00pm.
“Advice and support on smoking cessation, heart disease and healthy eating will be available with an opportunity for those taking part to find out their Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure and fitness.
“Confidential sexual health advice will be available with access to a men’s health web site, as well as an opportunity to access information about stress and ways to reduce it,” she said.
To find out more, contact the Brandon Centre on 0191 3784021 or the Laurel Avenue Centre on 0191 3741364.
