The DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery is situated in superb landscaped grounds at Aykley Heads and every year we make full use of these with a wide ranging programme of outdoor events - all with free entry and free parking!

Sculpture in the Park - Joseph Hillier

In the grounds of the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery and County Hall

Joseph Hillier makes figurative sculpture for exhibitions and to commission. His work re-interprets the human form amid an environment of sculptural motifs. The pairing of the figures with these forms create a curious drama; a metaphor for man attempting to understand his external and internal worlds.

Joseph Hillier was born in Cornwall and studied in Newcastle upon Tyne and New Orleans. After working in London for two years Hillier returned to Newcastle where he continues to work on commissions and exhibitions in the UK and internationally.
