Sound Clips

For many years the Imperial War Museum's Department of Sound has been recording the voices of soldiers who fought with the Durham Light Infantry during WW2. A selection from these important recordings has now been made by the Imperial War Museum.

Some tell stories of everyday life - of food and flies - others of fear and horror. There are eye-witness accounts of soldiers winning the Victoria Cross, plus vivid word-pictures of the horrors of battles in Normandy and at Kohima. For most of us, thankfully, this will be the closest we will ever get to the reality of war.

Now, these sound clips are available for you to listen to over the web. The sound clips are available in MP3 and Windows Media Audio formats. Click the link for which one you want.
