Apply for a concessionary seat - schools with standard arrangements

Where spare seats are available on a school bus, these can be sold to pupils who are not entitled to free transport. These are called concessionary seats. This page contains information about the concessionary seat scheme for September 2017.

The scheme relates to transport to secondary schools. For similar arrangements for primary schools you should contact us.

The standard scheme

At the majority of secondary schools, our standard conditions apply.  Schools which operate the standard scheme are listed with their transport timetables lower down the page.

The standard cost for each concessionary seat is £288.80 per school year, equivalent to £1.52 per day. If your application for a seat is successful, we will send you an invoice for the total cost. You can pay for the seat in monthly instalments.

The  Icon for pdf Concessionary seats guide for parents (PDF, 175.8kb)  provides more information about our concessionary seat scheme. It explains how you can apply for a seat, how seats are allocated and how to pay.

Apply for a concessionary seat

Download and complete the Icon for pdf Concessionary seats application form (PDF, 154.4kb) . Post it to the address at the bottom of the form. Please make sure you've read the terms and conditions. You should not use this form for any schools who have funded enhancements to the scheme. These are listed separately on the schools with special arrangements page.

Transport timetables - standard scheme

Find details of the transport running to each secondary school where standard conditions apply below - precise details may be subject to change during the school year. Transport by taxi is not normally shown as requirements often change.

You should tell us your preferred bus route on your application form. You can also give a second choice if you wish.

Schools where special arrangements apply

Some schools, in partnership with us, have funded enhancements to the scheme. Details for each school and how to apply are included on our schools with special arrangements page.

Schools with no contracted school transport

There is no contracted school transport to the following schools, apart from taxis. However, some public bus services, where normal ticketing arrangements apply, do operate to these schools. (Concessionary seats are not available on public bus services).
