Welcome to the Community Heritage Project website!

County Durham has a rich history and preserving and offering people greater access to this heritage is the essence of this project. Your village or town might be linked to our mining heritage, the iron and steel industries, the railways, agriculture or any of the many other industries associated with the County. School life, work, and sporting activities have added to your community’s heritage along with local disasters, wars, and national events; customs, songs and traditional activities have made your area what it is today.
