Welcome

Established in 1994, the County Durham Economic Partnership (CDEP) comprises over 50 public, private and voluntary sector organisations involved in the economic development and economic regeneration of the County.

The Partnership will shortly be publishing its 3rd PDF IconEconomic Strategy (CDES) 2008-2013.pdf (55 pages, 1878kb). The document has recently been out for public consultation (3rd December 07 - 7th March 08). An Action Plan for the CDES will also be prepared to map out the timetable for practically achieving the strategy's aims. The Economic Strategy seeks to achieve the long term goals of the County Durham Strategic Partnership as set out in the County Durham Strategic Vision. The Partnership Secretariat have developed a PDF IconPartnership Welcome Pack.pdf (17 pages, 134kb) to introduce partners to the work of CDEP.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this information.

The previous County Durham Economic Strategy 2002-2007 provides the current strategic framework for the economic development and economic regeneration work of CDEP. The Strategy highlights the key challenges facing the County and sets out the aims, objectives and priorities needed to achieve the Strategy's vision which is 'to secure the economic well-being of the County'.

During the recent public consultation phase of the strategy the importance of developing the skills and employability agenda within the County has been highlighted as a key development area. In-line with current skills policy the CDEP is seeking to establish an employer led group to drive forward the skills and employability agenda with the support of an executive and stakeholder groups. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) are fully involved and the group is recognised by the LSC as a means of involving employers in County Durham in the skills agenda.
