Burns Night Folk Concert
featuring the Nebula Big BandSunday 25 January at 8.00pm
The Nebula Big Band once again returns to Bishop Auckland Town Hall for the annual concert celebrating the life and works of the great Scottish bard, Robbie Burns.
Nebula, with Dave Hutchinson on guitar, citterns, mandolin and vocals, and Terry Wisker on percussion, are joined once again by Andy Lawrenson on fiddle, whistle, didgeridoo and vocals, and Ritchie Fletcher on guitar and vocals.
Great songs, great tunes, great harmonies.
A light Burns supper of haggis, tatties and neeps – ‘piped in’ by actor/performer extraordinaire Bruce Cunningham - adds to the night’s entertainment.
Tickets: £7.00 (to include traditional Burns Night food)
A great evening is in store, with everything Scottish mixed in with a bit of humour for good measure!

Lunchtime Concerts
The first Friday of the month at 1.00pm,6 February, 6 March
George Hetherington returns with his guest singers – always top notch - for this series of popular concerts.
February 6th sees George together with the irrepressible Eileen Glenton who will be taking centre stage for a concert entitled ‘Naughty and Nice’. The current season comes to an end on Friday 6th March when Marian Aitcheson and Marion Senior entertain with ‘Just We Two’.

Elvis on Tour
Featuring Paul Priestley and the EP bandSaturday 28 February 8.00pm - doors open at 7.30pm
Paul Priestley and the E.P. Band return to perform and recreate all the legends’ greatest hits including Jailhouse Rock, In The Ghetto, American Trilogy and many more. Set in cabaret style seating, this two hour show captures the famous Las Vegas performances. Elvis will definitely be in the building!
A show not to be missed.

St Patrick’s Day Celebration
Featuring the Old Age TravellersSaturday 7 March at 8.00pm
This year enjoy an early St Patrick’s Day celebration as we are once again treated to music performed by the Old Age Travellers. Malcolm Elsbury’s powerful voice leads the Travellers, complemented by the subtle humour and fine harmonies of John Stokel and the instrumental skills of Mike Ninham.
Support tonight will be provided by Exiles from Eden: Keith: flute, whistle, bodhran and vocals. Paul: guitar and vocals. The core of their music is Irish but the set includes their own songs and tunes and some contemporary material, with music interwoven with stories and observations on life.

We’ve all been in love, and we’ve probably all had our hearts broken. Here is a celebration of love in its many forms.
Join pianist George Hetherington and friends – Olly Burton, Eileen Glenton, Rachel Orr, Joe Watson, with special guests The A.K. Chorale – for a feast of music from the heart.

Bishop Auckland Operatic Society presentsCalamity Jane
Monday 16 – Saturday 21 March at 7.15pm
Calamity Jane is a wild cowgirl who can out-shoot and out-sing any boy on the range. However, when an actress arrives in Deadwood and uses her feminine charms on Jane's secret love, Wild Bill Hickock, Jane has to try and mend her tomboy ways.
With some wonderful songs, including the timeless Oscar winner "Secret Love", this musical abounds with energy, laughter, sadness and of course the classic fairy tale ending.

Folk night – Bram Taylor and Roly Hindmarch

Bram Taylor is an entertaining artist with distinctive voice and relaxed stage presence, best described as a collector and interpreter of songs, traditional, contemporary and humorous. Tonight Bram will join forces with Roly Hindmarch to provide a unique union of two great senses of humour in an entertaining and professional show.
Judith Haswell has a gift for selecting and arranging songs from a wide range of musical genres to showcase her undoubted talent.

Martin Taylor in Concert

Award winning guitarist Martin Taylor has established a unique musical career as an internationally acclaimed musician, and his inimitable style has seen him recognised as the world's foremost exponent of solo jazz guitar playing.
As well as being a true guitar innovator, he is also a master concert performer, dazzling audiences with his solo shows, which combine virtuosity, emotion, humour, with a strong stage presence.

John Tams and Barry Coope
BBC Radio 2’s ‘Duo of the Year’Wednesday 8 July at 8.00pm
John and Barry are a unique collaboration. Tams was recently described in MOJO magazine as ‘one of the giants of folk.’ Coope is a member of celebrated acappella group CBS. John has won six BBC Folk Awards. As Series Music Editor he collected a Sony Gold Award for the 2006 Radio Ballads. He also co-wrote the music, and appeared as Daniel Hagman in the entire 5 series of ITV’s Sharpe.
Together they bring experience, innovation and tradition to their humorous and captivating performances. Earlier this year John and Barry won the prestigious Duo of the Year trophy at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
