We must, as the local Planning Authority, set pitch and plot targets through the planning system, to ensure that Gypsy, Roma, Traveller communities have appropriate permanent and transit accommodation. Our Traveller Site Needs Assessment (PDF, 2Mb) provides the evidence to support our County Durham Plan, which is currently being prepared. It also assists in deciding planning applications relating to Traveller Sites.
The SHLAA and brownfield site register identifies sites within County Durham which have the potential for housing development and the development of brownfield land and form part of the evidence base for the County Durham Plan.
