New archives service consultation

We would like your help in shaping the future of our archives service.

What is being proposed?

As part of our plans to attract more investment and jobs, we are proposing to relocate from County Hall, as outlined in the Cabinet report of 15 July 2015. As part of this, we need to explore options for the relocation of our record office and archives to a sustainable stand-alone facility.

Durham County Record Office, the official archives service for County Durham and Darlington, has been in the same location for over 50 years and facilities for public access are outdated.

We want to ensure the archives of County Durham and Darlington are preserved and made accessible to all.

We want your views

To help us plan and attract funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we are seeking your views. We want to know the types of services you would like to see offered and what is important to you about the facility.

Have your say

Please complete our short survey by 21 September 2015.
