Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy consultation

We consulted on the Draft Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy 2015-2020, its key objectives and the action we will take to reduce alcohol related harm.

Why were we consulting?

Alcohol is the second biggest cause of death in England after tobacco. People drinking too much alcohol or too often costs County Durham almost £212 million a year. This can be through people going to see their doctor, calling ambulances, going to accident and emergency or having to stay in hospital. It can also be through police and other criminal justice services dealing with people who have committed crime whilst being drunk.
