Frosterley recycling site
A household waste recycling service for Weardale residents will operate on alternate Saturdays until the end of the year. The site is based off the A689 in Frosterley.
Where is it?
Opposite Sherburn Stone Quarry, off A689 in Frosterley.
9.00 am - 12.00 noon, on the following alternate Saturdays:
- 8, 22 September 2018
- 6, 20 October 2018
- 3, 17 November 2018
- 1, 15, 29 December 2018
Vehicles accepted at the centre
Cars, small vans and 4x4s are allowed, but due to the size of the site and the limited space to manoeuver, larger vehicles will not be able to use the facility. No agricultural vehicles or vehicles carrying livestock are accepted on site.
Waste permit scheme
This centre is a non-waste permit scheme site.
What can you dispose of?
- garden waste
- large and small domestic appliances like fridges/freezers/TVs and monitors
- paper and books
- mixed glass
- textiles, clothes and shoes
- scrap metals
- household batteries
- fluorescent tubes
- non-recyclable waste (black bags)
Speed up your visit
Separate your waste beforehand to help avoid traffic build-up and speed up your visit. Doing this will also help us to reduce recycling contamination.
What cannot be disposed of?
Rubble, hardcore, soils, plasterboard, asbestos, tyres, furniture, paint, chemicals, vehicle batteries, paint, gas bottles, waste and cooking oil, cans, cartons and hazardous waste.
Commercial and trade waste is not accepted.
