Ways to sign up and pay for garden waste collections

You can use a number of payment methods to subscribe to garden waste collections for 2017.

Please make sure you have read our garden waste collections terms and conditions first. The terms and conditions have been updated for 2017.

Online

The quickest and easiest way to subscribe and pay is by completing our online form.

Please note: if you subscribed by 14 February you'll get all 17 collections in 2017. You can still subscribe to the service and we'll arrange for your collections to start as soon as possible and you'll receive the remaining collections before the scheme ends for the year in November.

Other ways to subscribe

For all other methods, you will need the letter we are sending to eligible properties in January 2017. This includes a property reference number and barcode.

Telephone payment

If you already have a garden waste bin, contact us through our automated payment line, select the garden waste option and quote your garden waste reference number. Please note, your garden waste reference number is unique to your property so it is important you only use the reference number allocated to your property.  If you try to subscribe using a different reference number, your property will not be registered for garden waste collections.

If you don't already have a garden waste bin or would like to arrange collections from more than one bin, contact us at Highways and Streetscene.

In person

Take your cash payment to a Post Office or PayPoint outlet along with your letter. You will need the bar code at the top of our letter to make your payment. Please note, your garden waste reference number is unique to your property so it is important you only use the letter addressed to your own property.  If you try to subscribe using a different letter or reference number, your property will not be registered for garden waste collections.

By post

We can only accept cheques by post, please do not send cash. Make your cheque payable to Durham County Council, write your eight digit garden waste reference on the back of the cheque and send it to:

Through your bank

Make payments, through your bank, to Lloyds Bank Plc, account number 51009868, sort code 30-92-79. Please make sure you quote your garden waste reference number when making payment.

Refunds

If you change your mind, you have 14 working days from the day after payment to cancel your subscription. You must contact us at Business Support to cancel the service in writing. Please include the reference 'garden waste cancellation' in your correspondence along with your eight digit garden waste reference number and contact details.
