  • Care - extra

    Extra Care is specially designed housing developed with on-site care and support to offer older people and disabled people over the age of 55 an alternative to moving into a care home. Extra Care encourages people to live more independently.

  • Carers

  • Child protection

    Child protection procedures aim to protect and safeguard vulnerable children and young people at risk or suffering from physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

  • Childcare and childminding

    The Families Information Service is a free and impartial information service that supports families with children and young people on all aspects of family life.

  • Children and Young People's Network

    We must keep a register of children and young people with a special educational need or disability, up to the age of 25. In County Durham we call this the Children and Young People's Network.

  • Community alarm service

    Care Connect, our community alarm service, is designed to enable vulnerable and/or at-risk residents in County Durham to maintain independence in their home.

  • Community Safety Team

    We work in partnership with other statutory bodies such as the Police, Fire and Rescue, NHS and Probation to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, alcohol and substance misuse and to reduce re-offending in County Durham.
