Disability Living Allowance

Disability Living Allowance is a tax-free benefit that can be claimed for children up to the date of their 16th birthday if they need help with personal care, someone to help supervise them, or they have problems with getting around outside.

Our Icon for pdf Disability Living Allowance factsheet (F11) (PDF, 366.7kb)  explains who qualifies, the effects of Disability Living Allowance on other benefits and provides detailed advice on how to complete the claim pack properly.

Please note, if you are aged 65 or over, you should claim Attendance Allowance instead of Disability Living Allowance; if you are aged between 16 and 64 you should claim Personal Independence Payment.
