Becoming an appointee for benefits

A benefit appointee is someone who acts on behalf of a person claiming benefit who is can't deal with their benefits agency themselves.

An appointee takes responsibility for that person's benefit claim, deals with forms and other paperwork and can have the benefit paid to themselves instead of the claimant. Our  Icon for pdf Becoming an appointee for benefits factsheet (F27) (PDF, 287.3kb) explains the process of becoming an appointee and outlines the rights and responsibilities of benefit appointees.
