ePetitions fair processing statement

Our fair processing statement explains how we handle any data provided through our e-petition facility.

The information which you send to Durham County Council through the e-petition registration facility will be kept no longer than we reasonably believe is necessary and will only be used in connection with the administration of e-petitions and subscriptions to updates. We may also use information for statistical analysis but in such a way that your identity will not be involved.

You should be aware that if you sign an e-petition your name will be available to the petition organiser and may be made available to others on request. Your email address will not be made available.

You will not receive unsolicited paper or electronic mail from us as a result of agreeing to receive updates unless we explicitly ask for and get your permission. We will not pass on your email address to other organisations.

Unless stated otherwise (for example that you are viewing information over a secure connection) information transmitted over the internet is not secure and we cannot accept responsibility for misuse of information intercepted in this way.

All emails and any associated attachments received by Durham County Council will be electronically intercepted and examined for viruses etc. This is purely routine and any delay will be kept to a minimum.
