Forum event - November 2013
The format of last November's forum event was changed different to previous forum meetings. Over 550 people attended a 'drop in' session at Wolsingham School and Community College.
The day comprised of three elements:
Prior to the event, community groups in Weardale had been invited to apply for a community grant of between £1,000 and £3,000 with a total grant pot of £25,000. On the day, 21 applicants presented their projects and those who attended were asked to vote for three different projects to receive financial support.
As a result of continuing funding reductions, Durham County Council invited the public to decide where further savings should be made from the Council's budget for 2014-17. Participants took part in an innovative exercise to determine how to reduce the budget by £100 million.
AAP priority setting exercise 2014/15
Participants were asked to identify priority areas in order to help steer our work over the coming year and to assist in allocating the area budget. Participants voted the following as the top three priorities:
- employment and job prospects
- activities for young people
- care and support for older and disabled people
