Durham AAP - support for the voluntary sector and the vulnerable

This page gives information on Durham Area Action Partnership's (AAP) work to support the voluntary and community sector and the vulnerable.

The tasks identified under this priority are:

  • more support for local community groups and volunteers
  • promote community spirit
  • increase funding
  • increase the use of local community buildings
  • better communication links
  • potential development of community leaders

2013/14 outcomes

The group holds regular meetings to address this priority.

Small grants fund

Durham AAP has launched a small grants pot which is being administered by County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF). The maximum amount that you can apply for is £1,000 and grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis until the money is spent. If you require any further information please contact CDCF.

Voluntary and community sector funding and network event

A voluntary and community sector funding and network event was held in November 2013. The event was attended by a range of organisations, including community groups, residents' associations and community associations. There were presentations by The Big Lottery, Coalfields Regeneration, Awards for All, County Durham Community Foundation, Esh Group and Durham and Mid-Durham Area Action Partnership (AAP). Other presentations from Community Voluntary Services (CVS) were given by Durham AAP and East Durham Trust. A summary of the funding and network event is available - contact us if you'd like a copy.
