Road maintenance schemes

We carry out a variety of road maintenance schemes throughout the year.

Following a review of road service provision and in line with government guidance, we will be working on a limited number of projects where it is safe to do so including:

  • road resurfacing and specialist surface schemes
  • gully cleansing and maintenance
  • street lighting maintenance
  • bridges and structures.

There will be delays in responding to non-emergency and non-essential works. All activity will be undertaken with staff working to social distancing guidance.

Critical and emergency works including emergency repairs, road traffic accidents and emergency road defects will continue.

These include:

  • minor patching works
  • micro asphalt resurfacing
  • surface dressing
  • resurfacing
  • full reconstruction

Damaged road surfaces and potholes can cause inconvenience and damage to road users and vehicles. To minimise the risk of damage and potholes becoming a major hazard to road users, all of the adopted road network within the county is inspected on a regular basis.

Transport Asset Management Plan (TAMP)

We are required to show that we are making best use of our property and assets through asset management plans. We prepare an asset management plan for transport-related assets.

Highway Maintenance Plan (HMP)

The processes behind the TAMP are detailed in our Highway Maintenance Plan (HMP) which is reviewed regularly and updated when required.
