Education Durham Early Years Podcasts
We are releasing regular podcasts aimed at all early years practitioners and childminders in Durham and beyond.
Episode 3 - Developing a love of literacy in the early years
In this episode we are joined by children's author Adam Bushnell and outdoor education specialist Sam Jackson from SCOUTED, as well as our very own Jane Kennedy; one of our Senior Specialist Advisers for Education Durham. In this episode we explore language and literacy in the Early Years and discovered how we can develop a love of reading with our youngest children.
Discover Adam's favourite book as a child, find out why Sam is a non-fiction fan and feel inspired by Jane's hints and tips on motivating and captivating children's imaginations! An episode not to be missed!
Episode 2 - Sharing stories with younger children - Durham Book Festival's Little Read
Using the story 'Perfectly Norman' by T Percival, this podcast explores the importance of story-telling to younger children and provides guidance and support to those adults who are tasked with reading to children on a regular basis. Perfectly Norman is a bold and uplifting book about daring to be different and having the courage to dance to your own tune.
This episode is for all those with a love of sharing stories with younger children
Episode 1 - What is Cultural Capital?
"What is Cultural Capital" is episode 1 of our new programme of podcasts. Whilst we 'intended' to discuss and unpick the new Ofsted inspection framework, the 'implementation' didn't go quite to plan! Put five Early Years team members in a room and time just flies!
So, our first podcast is really an introduction (for us!) to the world of podcasts, a chat about the highs and the lows of the past year for our team, and a little discussion around Cultural Capital.
