Apply for a secondary school place

You can apply for a secondary school place for your child in County Durham for September 2018 now.

How to apply

Apply using our Parent Portal - anyone who applied for a place prior to September 2016 will need to create an account. This is the quickest way to apply and you'll receive immediate confirmation that your application has been submitted.

If you are unable to apply online you can either download a form from this page or contact us by email or phone and we will send you one.

We strongly advise you to read our Primary and Secondary School Admission Guide 2018/19 (PDF, 1Mb) as it explains everything you need to know about obtaining a secondary school place for your child for September 2018.

We have two tutorial videos available on our Youtube Channel to assist if you have difficulty with our online system. These can be viewed using the following links:

Application deadline

Applications will close on Tuesday 31 October 2017.

Please note - a late application, ie after 31 October 2017, greatly reduces your chances of getting into your preferred school.

Offer of a place

The offer of a school place will be made on 1 March 2018.

Apply by post or email

Download the secondary school places application form and return to us.
