Coach drop-offs and pick-ups
Coach drop-off and pick-ups are at Freeman's Place. From Freeman's Place you can walk up to the city centre, or catch the Durham Cathedral Bus, which operates from the bus stop at Freeman's Place.
Information for coach drivers
Once you have dropped your passengers off at Freeman's Place, coach parking is at our Belmont Park and Ride site. This coach park is situated on the A690, approximately 300m east of Junction 62 of the A1 (10 minutes from Durham City centre).
Parking is free and coach drivers have access to toilets and facilities for cleaning coaches. The petrol station, which has a 'Costa' facility is approximately 100m east of the coach park (on the A690).
Coach drivers have free travel in and out of Durham City centre from this coach park on our Durham City Park and Ride service. This free travel is available from 7.00am until 7.00pm, Monday to Saturday (on Sundays this service is not available).
At the end of your visit, return to the city centre to pick up your passengers.
New coach park
We are building a new coach park, with improved facilities, next to Belmont Park and Ride which is expected to be completed at the end of September. Until this new coach park opens, a temporary coach park at Belmont Park and Ride is available.
The new coach park will:
- continue to be free.
- provide coach drivers with access to better facilities, enabling drivers to empty chemical toilets, clean their vehicles inside and out and use existing on site washrooms at the site
- accommodate 30 coaches, currently there is space for 11.
