An apprenticeship can give you on-the-job experience and training, as well as a salary and nationally recognised qualifications. If you're looking to boost your CV, you should also consider volunteering.

Apprenticeships with the council

We offer apprenticeships in a variety of work areas from business admin and IT to electricians. Find details of existing apprenticeship opportunities on our current job vacancies and apprenticeships pages.

Apprenticeships for young people

If you're aged between 16 and 24, living in County Durham and not in education, employment of training, DurhamWorks can help you get the help you need to make positive choices about your life, training, apprenticeships and employment.

Information for businesses

We support local businesses to take on apprentices, offering incentives to recruit young people from County Durham. We may be able to help your business with funding to take on an apprentice or by providing the training for them to become fully qualified. See our  page for more details.
