Seaham Townscape Project (phase 2b)

You are invited to have your say on plans to improve Seaham town centre.

Background

Seaham Townscape Heritage Project aims to restore buildings and improve spaces within Seaham conservation area, to create attractive, vibrant and interesting places for people to live, work and visit.

In May 2018, we successfully completed the first stage of our application to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). We were awarded £78,200 development grant to employ a project officer and consultants to develop more detailed proposals for the second-round submission in Spring 2019.

If successful at second stage, these funds will be used to deliver a Townscape Heritage project in the town centre, which will restore and maintain historic buildings, help to bring vacant properties into use and upgrade paving and public spaces.

To secure funding for the town's improvement, we have had a series of consultation events - Seaham Townscape Heritage Project (phase 1) and Seaham Townscape Heritage Project (phase 2a)

What are we doing?

We have prepared some concept designs for the town centre, and are holding two events to show you them.

The drop-in events will give you the opportunity to look at the designs and speak to us about the project:

  • Seaham Library on Thursday 31 January between 4.00pm and 7.00pm
  • Byron Place Shopping Centre on Friday 1 February between 10.00am and 1.00pm

Have your say

The closing date for responses was Friday 22 February 2019.

What happens next?

Following these events we will consider any feedback received and where possible, include your local knowledge, views and expertise to enhance the project. We will continue to keep residents informed and involved at all stages of this scheme
