Teesdale pool


Laps, lessons, floats and fun - swim at our two pools and enjoy time in the water. Swimming is a great low impact way to get fit and stay fit. Why not try our aqua classes or maybe just splash about with the kids?

All of our leisure centres are closed until further notice.

All memberships, including fitness, swimming and swimming lessons, will be frozen for the period of the closure and direct debit payments will be automatically adjusted. If you have paid up front for any membership, the period of the closure will be added to the end of your contract.

While we are closed, we hope you can remain physically active  - see our Keep active in your home information and look out for links on our social media, @DurhamThriveActive, providing information on how you can keep moving and stay healthy.

Family swim sessions

Splash tots

Age range: zero to five years

Help your baby or toddler develop their confidence, including toys for lots of fun.

Cost: £4.00 (includes one adult and one child)

Fun sessions

Age range: under eight's in the small pool and over eight's in the main pool.

Toys, rafts and floats are in the pool to create a splashing time for children to enjoy during fun sessions.

Ready, sett, splash

Age range: two to six years

Meet Brock the badger, Durham County Council's very own early year's mascot and his friends as he learns to have fun in the pool. Sessions include 30 minutes instructor led fun and games and 30 minutes of free play time.

Sessions are pay as you go and advance booking is not required.

Cost: £4.00 (includes one adult and one child)

Inflatables

Age range: eight to fourteen years and above (must be able to swim 25m)

Giant inflatable challenges are guaranteed to keep the kids entertained, can they make it across to the other side in one go?

    Swimming lessons 

    From babies to adults it's never too early or late to join our aqualearn swimming programme. Sign up for swimming lessons at any time and progress at your own pace. Prices start from just £19 per month which includes unlimited general swimming so you can practice what you learn as much as you like.

    General swimming pool admissions policy

    Your family's safety is a top priority. Children under eight years must be accompanied by an adult in the water and changing rooms during public swimming sessions. You must also supervise children taking into account their swimming ability and the water depth. We operate an admissions policy to ensure a safe environment for everyone:

    The following will be refused entry to the pool (or possibly to the whole building at the discretion of the Operations Manager on duty);

    • Any child who is, or appears to be, under the age of 8 years who is, or appears to be, unaccompanied by a responsible person 16 years or over.
    • Any child under the age of 8 years who is accompanied only by someone who is or appears to be under 16 years.
    • Any child under the age of 8 years who is accompanied by someone deemed not to be a responsible person
    • Those who are, or are suspected to be, under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    • Persons barred from the pool/building for previous misdemeanours
    • Anyone deemed unfit to swim for health reasons
    • Anyone without an adequate and decent swim wear
    • Anyone who is abusive / violent on arrival
    • Any person at the discretion of the operations /duty officer or the aquatics coordinator
    • Anyone without a valid swim ticket or membership
