Road resurfacing and bridge work
Road resurfacing and works to a bridge are to take place in County Durham.
We are to carry out the work at Coundon, Winston and Shildon over the coming weeks.
The work at Coundon runs from Saturday 6 to Monday 15 January and involves the resurfacing of the B6287 in two phases.
The first will see the closure of Wharton Street from 6 to 10 January, with a diversion in place via Collingwood Street and Victoria Lane.
Phase two will see the closure of Leeholme Road from 11 to 15 January, with a diversion in place via Victoria Lane, Collingwood Street, Tees Walk and Eden Terrace. Access for residents will be maintained via Low Road.
Winston Bridge, on the B6274 between Winston and Caldwell, will be closed for work from Monday 8 January to Sunday 11 February. Repairs will be carried out to masonry and the bridge's road and footpaths will be resurfaced.
During the closure, a diversion will be in place via the A67, B6275, A1(M) and A66, rejoining the B6274.
Further road resurfacing will take place on the B6282 Auckland Terrace at Shildon from Monday 22 January to Sunday 4 February. The work will involve phased road closures with diversions in place.
John Reed, our head of technical services, said: "These schemes are part of our ongoing capital programme to maintain roads across the county.
"We appreciate there will be some disruption for motorists but we have planned the works to keep this to a minimum. I'd like to thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding while these works are carried out."
